Steve Borrill Physio Selected For London 2012 Olympic Games

Steve Borrill, Scunthorpe based physiotherapist and sports injury specialist, has been selected out of hundreds of applicants to help athletes at the 2012 London Olympic Games. Steve will be working with athletes from all over the world, volunteering at a number of venues across London, including the Olympic stadium. "The interview was quite a long drawn out process. Because I was volunteering for something so specific required a lot of interviews and training to make sure you were fully qualified." he said.

"It feels great to have been chosen as so many people applied."

Steve studied at Birmingham University and then his masters in Specialist Sports Injuries in Sheffield and this selection has been his career goal throughout. "When I qualified in 2009 I always knew that I wanted to work at an event like this." Although the bigger Olympic teams at the games such as Team GB and USA will have their own medical teams available at the venues, the smaller teams will not be able to have medical staff available across all of the venues, so this is where Steve will offer his physiotherapy services. Steve says the Olympics provide a massive opportunity for him and he appreciates how important his specialist sports injury and prevention treatments will be. "The athletes have been training really hard for four years for the Olympics so for them to get an injury would be massively disappointing."
